The Iowa Fertilizer Plant was the first greenfield nitrogen fertilizer plant constructed in the US in more than 30 years. Ryan & Associates was initially selected to perform the fabrication and installation of the OSBL piping package which amounted to a nearly $100M contract. Midway through construction Ryan agreed to take on additional work from other contractors who were not performing.

By the end of the project, Ryan’s contract had grown to $325M in value, with a peak manpower of approximately 1,400 tradespeople. Through the course of the project Ryan installed over 500,000 liner feet of pipe, 700,000 diameter inches of weld and over 70,000 individual pipe supports and maintained a rejection rate of less than 0.02%. Total man hours for this project exceeded 2.3 million hours worked.
